Before marriage,
a manual.
A full report design for the DPS Islamic Pre-marriage Courses programme — a curriculum document for pre-marriage guidance sessions, designed warm enough for young couples and rigorous enough for the religious-education authority commissioning it.
The brief
Pre-marriage courses are an established institution in Islamic religious-education programmes. The DPS curriculum needed a publication that respected the seriousness of the commitment while reading warmly to the audience of newly-engaged couples attending the sessions.
We led with photography — a real family portrait on a warm outdoor location — and designed the interior as a study book: short modules, clear learning objectives per chapter, family-specific case studies, and a reference section for the course facilitators.
How we worked
01 — Warmth from page one
The cover is a family — not an illustration, not a symbol. The audience sees themselves.
02 — Module-based interior
Designed as a study book. Each chapter self-contained. Course facilitators can reorder without breaking the system.
03 — Case-study treatments
Real scenarios formatted as repeated visual components. Readers pattern-match across sessions.
04 — Facilitator-ready
Back-of-book reference section for the course leader. Prep once, teach for years.
